Pros

Floor staff is friendly for the most part. Respiratory has a lot of decision making power with patient care.

Cons

On call is required and used to fill numerous holes in the schedule. Sub par pay for the area. Can be pulled between different facilities at any point before or during your shift. Uses Avea ventilators, which are garbage. Chronic lack of equipment. Blatant favoritism with promotions and scheduling.

Pros

Honestly very good patient care. Has a lot to offer to patients and has pretty high standards when it comes to treatment and care. I’d feel comfortable if my parents ever came here for something serious.

Cons

Does NOT treat its nurses with much dignity, but posts online a lot as if it does. We get small, maybe 20-40 cent raises a year. Does NOT offer payment incentive for getting higher education, CCRN, or critical care. You could have an associates and work on a med sug floor, or a masters and work in the ICU and obtain your CCRN certification and still make the same amount of money. Also, does not offer extra shift pay. Didn’t do a single thing for nurses week this year, despite COVID and all of us working ourselves into the ground. Hospital management isn’t involved with us at all except to scare us when they walk around the unit and get pictures for the hospital Facebook. It’s not a great place to work at long term.

Pros

Pay is great, pto, gainshare. Employees are somewhat nice

Cons

Benefits suck, cafeteria food is outrageously expensive especially for employees What is a $1.00 off food when they charge you for the plastic containers to put your food in.
