Great for short term

Pros

If you love Starbucks (not just coffee, specifically Starbucks) then I would highly recommend this as a possible long-term career path. Otherwise, it works great as a second job or just as short-term income while you get through school/figuring your life out. Benefits for entry level service/retail is really hard to beat and they have fantastic stock programs as well as 100% covered tuition for your first Bachelor’s degree.

Cons

The pay is great, but if you’re not careful about the amount of time you spend here, you could end up with a golden handcuff situation where you’re really tired of the job but you can’t go anywhere else within retail or service without taking a big pay cut. The only way in many markets to get almost full time hours, (they don’t all work the same, this is just my experience) is to have full availability and basically say goodbye to having any kind of routine. That could just be a cyclical thing but generally the more flexible you are with your schedule, the more hours you’ll tend to get. Especially as a new hire because a lot of the time we hire to replace or fill in for a day part that none of the preexisting employees were available to take on.

Pros

Stellar benefits, good pay, free food and drinks.

Cons

Salaried on-call, little (and continually decreasing) agency over overall staffing, lots of corporate politics, thin (and still thinning) labor levels, poor oversight and follow-through on training,

Going downhill

Pros

The drinks are fairly easy and fun to make, the benefits are extremely helpful and unlimited really. Stocks are also a really good thing if you're investing in that sort of thing. Lots of benefits really and not too difficult of work to learn

Cons

There is so much wrong with this company, and I hope it burns to the ground. It is toxic, unhealthy and the pay is absolutely garbage for the amount of work you have to put in. They support genocide. They will expect the world of you, to break your back and bend over backwards, but will give you nothing in return. Your voice will almost never be heard. Customers will do bad things in the bathroom, bring w3apons and announce slurs, and nothing will be done. The employees are almost always blamed and these customers almost never get banned and still dine in lobby. The people you work with are also snakes, absolute snakes. I've heard s3xist and h0moph0bic comments from my very own coworkers, about other employees and customers. Its only ever about money with Starbucks, you will never see a raise, only a cut in your hours, while they skyrocket their prices. You will have a constant target on your back especially if you stand up for yourself. If you actually do your job you're hated. You will NEVER be paid your worth, ever. If you've read this far, know this company sucks. It's not worth working for unless you truly need the benefits.
