Pros

Good pay and benefits. Easy, mindless job

Cons

Repetitive and monotonous, saying the same word tracks over and over. Time watching for each call, and making sure on time for breaks/lunches, even if you were on a call if you are late to your breaks it counts against your adherence . . . kind of a lose-lose situaton that you need to figure out how to manage or, you'll get written up. Most of the promotion talk is BS due to the adherence numbers game . . . they need bodies on the phones, they'll keep you there for a year, at least, before you're "supported to apply for a promotion." I call that BS.

Pros

Stable industry, good health benefits.

Cons

Everything good about the company is no longer available. Schedules are no longer flexible and sometimes require employees to only have Sunday and a random weekday off. Managers no longer get to manage and are told what to do. Employees are so unhappy that they are applying for new jobs while on the clock. Employees are no longer trusted to do their work and manage their workload and are told what to do at all hours of the day. Few holidays off. No work life balance even though the company preaches it. Too much micromanagement. The company is going through a reorganization and the employees are paying the price for the downfall of the reorganization. The pride that people used to have for working for State Farm no longer exists and it shows in customer interactions and in employee attitudes. Pay is extremely low for industry standards, despite the amount of work required. Mandatory overtime is common.

Friendly people, high micromanagement

Pros

The environment is quite friendly and there is a strong sense of camaraderie between co-workers. Most people are willing to go out of their way to help if asked. Training is quite comprehensive and helps build that sense of camaraderie if you are lucky enough to keep some classmates with you into the live environment.

Cons

Systematic micromanagement is very high. Scheduling is down to the minute and metrics are measured and judged constantly on very fine lines. Absurdly low lenience system for absences in the face of emergencies or sickness.
