Pros

Provided equipment, great benefits, and paid trip to Bloomington to see the headquarters.

Cons

Utterly overloaded by claims. I personally got 10 claims per day when the average for other companies was 3-4. I know others State Farm employees that got 16 claims within a day. The expectations were completely outrageous. I worked from home and hardly saw my family because I was always working. The insureds don't know how much you're overworked, they only want to know why you haven't called them back yet. In reality, you have 30 voicemails piling up, tasks to complete before 2pm, multiple agents sending instant messages telling you to contact other insured for an emergency. Mandatory overtime is a reality if you can't finish within the normal hours. You also have to work other people's claims on top of your own. It's mostly for folks that are on vacation or called out for that day- Congrats! Now you'll have a total of 12 claims for the day... when 1 claim can take up to an hour to complete depending on complexity. I was calling people at 6am or 8pm just to "keep up" with metrics and keep my number from turning red... It was a lot...

Not what I expected

Pros

Bonus , paid time off, benefits , and training.

Cons

Unmanageable work load and you will be burned out. The amount of work is so bad you cannot even take off because you will come back to work overwhelmed with task. The job is also very micromanaged to the point they only care about metrics and not much about the actual day to day work. 80% of the time it is a hostile environment you are working in dealing with confrontations from customers and contractors because the claims have been re assigned 5 times due to people leaving from burn out. I will not recommend this job to anyone long term.

Pros

Benefits: good health insurance, decent amount of time off.

Cons

I am literally in the middle of a nervous breakdown solely from my job. As in I'm out on FMLA at the direction of my psych doctor. This same doctor told me our metrics are ludicrous and that she treats so many people in my department. Why would my doctor know my work metrics? Why? Because so many patients go to her having depression and anxiety as a result. We are tracked by our mouse movements, being in the right call state, the amount of time on the phone and the time typing notes after the fact. We have to reach certain numbers of tasks. Some people are scheduled for task time. Others phone only. So we are competing to reach a goal on an uneven playing field. Did I mention that Artificial Intelligence is listening in for particular phrases? I have so much anxiety even typing this out. Am i aware that call center employees must be measured in some way? Of course. Thats normal, fair, and to be expected. But to such a unattainable extent??? Why do I stay? Because I'm so close to being vested in the pension. I can't give up now. And I'm searching for another position within the company. Please consider your mental health before accepting a position at this company. Ask yourself why the turnover rate is so high.
