Pros

Comfortable, very flexible schedule. May get to study some interesting things. Lots of code reviews, and exposure to the work of people on other projects, with some ability to switch over. An opportunity to learn a lot. Lots of smart people here.

Cons

Not the best communication/management, but they don't really have a hierarchy, so it's expected.

Pros

Stellar Science is very focused on doing development "right". It does not have layers of management and developers are encouraged to be independent, creative, and rigorous. The benefits are appropriate for a small company, including a fully funded 401k and strong health benefits.

Cons

Because of the lack of management layers, sometimes it's not clear what "career growth" looks like. If you want to be a scientific developer and maybe grow into being a technical lead, this is a great place to land. If you're looking for more mainstream management opportunities, you won't find them here.
