Negative work environment, unstable hours, no empathy for employees
Pros
50% discount, that's about it
Cons
I recently just quit my job at Steve Madden due to a plethora of things. To start, I loved working at Steve when I first started, my old manager and DM were incredible. After a change in staff, and we began being under more control of head office things began to get really bad. Manager/head office has no empathy for their staff, even when we came to them about concerns about safety, concerns with our manager, concerns with hiring, they did not listen to anything we had to say. When I told my manager this as part of why I quit, she agreed and said she knows head office does not care and will replace you as quickly as you began. We had very unstable hours (sometimes I would get 30+, other times, the next week, out of no where I would get scheduled for 10 hours, although I had full availability and was one of the regular employees in store), and management would threaten us constantly that if we didn't sell, we would lose our hours, even though the store I worked in has a VERY low volume of traffic. We were constantly told by head office that we were the worst store in the country, and that our employees were going to eventually be replaced because they wanted to "redo" the store. Head office was very inappropriate numerous amounts of times, calling employees and threatening them, yelling at us in front of customers when they came to visit, etc. I have no respect for this company, and I would not recommend working for them. It is an extremely negative environment, and they do not care about their employees/management at all. Bad pay, and unstable hours. Just no good reason to work there anymore, except the 50% discount I suppose.
