Pros

Upward mobility. Job Security (you can be absolutely awful at your job and never get fired.)

Cons

You're better off coming from the outside than dedicating your life to this firm in terms of pay. The firm only values advisors and does not invest in its Home Office employees. The compliance team who keeps the firm from getting hefty fines and out of trouble with the SEC and FINRA are the lowest paid on the street. Risk managers value quantity over quality in work. This is basically a middle school of financial services firms.

Good MM Bank

Pros

Peers are great and hard working Some MDs and directors are really great The MD you get makes your breaks it at this bank Good pay for Baltimore Team culture Again, the junior bankers are awesome. You will like working here... if you work hard, double check your work, play a little politics, and plan on never stop learning. Benefits are decent perks are ok

Cons

Analysts are expected to burn out The bank should reward people based on merits not on what they promise to do next time The COO is a bit of a nut job Her underlings follow suit beware COO decides she has bankers working 80-110hrs/week and instead of rewarding them she wants to make to make it harder for them - she brought policy that limited company provided meals (almost no healthy options) all chain restaurants (if you want to call them restaurants)

Pros

Great executive leadership who is always looking out for the best interest of the clients and Financial Advisors. Open architecture platform that allows FA's to run their businesses as they see fit. Little to no bureaucracy within management.

Cons

401k match is a joke ($1000k dumped in at year end), health coverage is expensive. I was promised incentives that have yet to be delivered.
