Toxic and Embarrassing

Pros

40% discount on clothes and that is literally it, there are no other pros to working for Stitch Fix. There used to be pros, but those have been eliminated one by one over the years.

Cons

*No PTO for part-time staff *Very little sick time *Only 30 hours of UNPAID time off. That's right...if you want to have time off on the holiday weeks because the warehouses aren't open and aren't moving inventory, you need to request it off and make sure you have 30 hours to last the entire year *Toxic, toxic, toxic positivity runs rampant here. I've been upset about this for years and it only gets worse. I was actually involved in a meeting with a Supervisor (they're above the Leads) about the issues around eliminating comments on communications from leadership. I tried to word my answer very carefully, staying as "on brand" and positive as possible, while suggesting that it might feel as though negative criticism is not well accepted based on the response of leadership. Well, even she had to reframe my statement and doubled down that "negative comments just lead to too much negativity. There's a way to be positive and solution-focused". Perhaps there is, but also there's something to be said for allowing people to be "authentic" (Stitch Fix value right there) and voice concerns in a respectful manner. This is not tolerated at Stitch Fix. Everyone must be positive about changes all the time no matter what. *There is no way to communicate with other Stylists. They would love for us to all be isolated without the knowledge that other Stylists feel the same way. We ought to unionize based on everything they've been doing. * While my Lead assures me we still have flexibility, we do not. All hours must be worked 8 am-8 pm (this is an arbitrary time frame b/c it is local time so there will be Stylists working around the clock). This was implemented as a way to get Stylists to lay themselves off so the stock doesn't crash. *No room for upward mobility. I've been doing this for 5 years and have been in the rounds for advancement many times over the years, but they prefer to hire out from Target. *Double standards. We are told how many hours we are expected to work just 2 days before the week starts. That can change mid-week, we may be asked to ramp up, we may be asked to stop working altogether (no pay), we may be told to work all of our hours on Tuesday/Wednesday. So setting our schedule 2 weeks in advance is 100% arbitrary and a waste of time. But, do you think Stylists get any flexibility? Nope. It's just for the business needs and due to tech issues, but Stylists "got this" with their "grit".

Horrible company to work for

Pros

At the time of hire, the work schedule was fairly flexible. However they have since removed this flexibility and removed the only "pro" associated with this company/role.

Cons

You are asked to work directly with an algorithm that doesn't work, so customers are constantly getting things they dont want just because that is all Stitch Fix had in inventory. They also somewhat recently made a massive layoff of stylists so they could rehire for lower rates. This company really doesn't have any concern for it's staff and the direct leads/managers are either completely unavailable, or just as powerless as their direct-reports are.
