Although I mentioned above you're able to choose your own hours, be very wary because unless you want to pull out all of your hair before the end of your shift, you have to be very careful of the actual days/times you select to style (you are required to schedule 2 weeks in advance) because inventory is so bad, you have to try to get in and grab anything you can before it's gone. Working weekends, evenings, holidays, Mondays...these are all guaranteed to make you want to scream. This company's buying decisions are the worst I have ever seen, and this is the worse I've ever seen it.
I've been with SF for over two years, and to say I'm ready to quit would be an understatement. The people here (upper mgmt, Leads) are so fake, it's almost laughable. They love to spew their "we're here to support you!" "we LOVE our stylists!" However, the support we actually receive is a much different story.
As many have already mentioned, the inventory is beyond bad. I have a lot of long-time clients who are ready to quit the service, and I don't blame them one bit. Our styles are old, dated, and way overpriced. For a boring ol' polyester top, they'll charge you over $50 when you could drive over to just about any other dept store such as Target, JCPenney, Kohls, TJ Maxx, Ross and find something very similar for half the price.
For the customers, attaching your Pinterest board is a huge waste of time. We never have the styles you're looking for. That's not the fault of the stylists, that is the Merch/Buyers fault, but of course we take alllll the blame. Our metrics hold us accountable for every fault of other departments and a lot of us are walking a tight line and are at risk of losing our jobs due to others failures.
There are other similar companies out there now who are doing what we do...just much better. It's pretty bad when someone who works for the company actually subscribes to other companies (I am no longer a customer of SF). They're offering better quality clothes and clothes that people actually want to buy. I've even told my friends and family NOT to order from Stitch Fix since they have chosen to treat their stylists like garbage and their clothes are absolutely not worth the price they ask for.
As soon as I find another job, I'm out. I can't take the lies, the false sense of happiness, the painfully ignorant replies we receive anymore. At this point, I hope SF goes belly up since they have no desire to improve things.
The stylists they have really do try. They try to make it work and they really do care about their clients. A lot of us work way over our hours to make a Fix somewhat desirable, but of course we're not getting paid to do that...we only do it because we care and if we don't wait to see if anything happens to show up in our inventory, our metrics suffer.
Also, if you're hoping to advance in the company, don't hold your breath. Advancing in this company is a bit of a pipe dream. The only other position to go for is a Team Lead, and those are hard to come by. They don't offer well-earned raises. They don't offer insurance benefits unless you're full time and you're lucky to make it to full time. They want a bunch of SAHMs who don't complain and feel obligated because they "get to work from home!" I have a feeling that's the only reason most of us even stay is because we get to WFH..that's how they get you! And once you get to the point where you can't take anymore, you'll either quit or they'll fire you for your metrics and they'll just hire more un-suspecting women to replace you.
On top of the MAJOR MAJOR inventory issues, it's an absolutely dull job. You'll feel excited when you're hired, but you'll quickly burn out and realize this is a dead-end job with no potential. Once you've read your 20th negative feedback and get pulled into ENDLESS TBs with your Team Lead, you'll be more than ready to quit.
