Not everything I hoped

Pros

flexible hours, easy to do with another job

Cons

This job didn't give me the freedom that I wanted as a stylist. Inventory was always an issue, and my lead was not as helpful as she could have been. I was constantly frustrated, as a part time employee, I was never able to work during times where there were enough good pieces to send to my clients. Overall I was disenchanted.

Pros

• Competitive healthcare coverage • Smaller CA leadership team was experienced, supportive, and dedicated to employees and accomplishing goals. The saving grace of this job was the CA leadership team. The culture of the team and passion for work existed despite how badly the company was being run into the ground and the lack of transparency from the top.

Cons

• Lack of company vision, direction, and integrity. No overall mission to drive employees. Clueless CEO that had no idea what was happening within styling or buying. • Siloed departments which lead to constant misunderstandings, confusion, and repeated work. • Time and money spent finding solutions for roadblocks that don't actually exist and a complete lack of understanding of the actual roadblocks. • Leaders company-wide were constantly out of the loop - BIG company changes would be announced without proper direction given to leaders ending up with more confusion, chaos, and low employee morale. •Low pay and no actual reward for exceeding goals. You just work yourself into the ground knowing there will be no payoff or career development (the only way to development was to leave). • Micromanaged work schedule and timekeeping system for full-time "specialty" employees with multiple overlapping responsibilities who by the nature of the work needed the flexibility to accomplish goals.

Pros

1) For the most part, coworkers are very congenial with one another. 2) The company seems to have figured out how to effectively manage remote staff.

Cons

1) The absence of a clear, cohesive vision and strategy for the company is creating confusion within the teams. Priorities and initiatives seem to change every other week. It feels like we're flailing about in an effort to please investors. 2) Directors and above seem to completely misunderstand the state of the tech stack and its limitations. There's a dire need for tech investment, but leaders want to focus almost entirely on new features. 3) High attrition rates and low morale among staff are drastically slowing the velocity of the teams, but leadership seems blind to that. 4) The lack of clearly defined product principals and ways of working was a complete surprise for me. Despite being a decade-old company, the product org feels largely unestablished.
