We cleaned house a bit for the better and are now focusing on making StockX better for our customers. We’re fighting for our right to exist which is daunting and exciting at the same time. We feel like a startup again and continue to solve increasingly complex issues. In my 3 years at the company, I haven’t been more excited to be here.

Cons

This benefits are pretty bare bones in a lot of ways compared to other tech companies, but this is to be expected until we’re a more mature company.

Great Engineering, Bad Management

Pros

When I joined, StockX had some amazing engineers. This meant that most basic engineering processes and tooling was well setup. Work life balance is great on most days and depends which team you work on & your manager.

Cons

Unapproachable HR team, things change with zero communication. New features keep coming in, only to be dropped a few months later. Most of the new management do not have startup experience so the culture has become worse in the past 1 year. Hiring process is absolute chaos, same questions are asked to every candidate which is easily available all over the internet. This has resulted in some candidates being hired who are not ideal for the work we do.

Worklife-balance emergency on some teams

Cons

Things were ok for the first two years. But in the past year: Serious work-life balance issues on some teams. Never ending slew of high priority projects. Unsuitable for junior developers, watched juniors have to spend 60 hours a week due to ineffective management and unhelpful team leads (expectation that low experience juniors are to operate like seniors because being junior is at odds with the never ending slew of emergency projects)
