Pros

most people are nice and helpfull, you get to meet alot of people. if you need to pick up some food you can on the way home.

Cons

i have been working at stop and shop for 5 months and have asked for more training 3 times and i am told to check codes in the hot dog case. thats what they tell me to do to brush me off. my boss told me to just drift along with the flow and maybe after 3 years i could be full time i have been a pro carpet installer for 20 years and did not just drift along. i was installing stairs on day 2.. i see if a full time job opens up they try to give it to there friends..

Pros

Job security - people always need to eat, and S&S doesn't fire people much Location variety - during training, you get sent to various stores, so you get to know a lot of places No overnight travel, unlike some jobs - helpful for those with family Established routine - you pretty much know what you will be doing at work each day

Cons

You will NEVER get two weekend days off in a row (at least from my experience). The work environment is highly unionized. This is great for protecting mediocre wage workers, but is terrible for ambitious, hard-working wage workers (who often can't get enough work hours because you have assign a minimum amount of hours to union workers), and entry-level managers (since you are on salary, get no overtime, will have to work at least one 12-hour day per week mandatory, and have to fill in the gaps when union workers don't show up or don't work hard enough).

Pros

The managers are often flexible with shift hours if you are a part-timer who goes to school, e.g. It is also a good place for socializing, being that everyone has to shop for food, you meet just about everybody!

Cons

This store does offer room for growth, but in general that majority of employees are part-timers who go to school, etc.
