Pros

I started at Straight North about six months ago, and so far, it’s been an all-around awesome experience. The people are great, the clients are interesting, and the culture is solid — good work-life balance, flexible working conditions, not too many meetings/messages. Being empowered to work independently and manage my own time is a huge plus compared to my previous roles. Also, working with a wide range of clients — across sizes and industries — helps keep the work fresh and challenging. It’s especially rewarding to get to support small and local businesses.

Cons

The onboarding could have been a little bit more thorough, although I think being thrown into the fire helps prepare you for the independent nature of the role.

Pros

Co-workers are extraordinarily kind and helpful. Management is also kind, understanding and willing to invest in most employees. Ability to work remote is a game changer for work life balance.

Cons

Up front pay is low but loyalty and time is rewarded. Covid hurt company culture but it's slowly coming back. 401k matching isn't competitive.

Pros

I’ve been at Straight North for over 10 years, and during that time, the company has doubled in size and made a lot of meaningful improvements. As a software developer, I’ve had plenty of opportunities to grow — learning new tools and technologies along the way. The company prioritizes quality work over rushing things out the door, and listens to feedback from the development team. Quarterly meetings keep us informed on company health, upcoming changes, and highlight team members who go above and beyond. I always leave feeling confident in leadership and appreciated as an employee. Other great things about Straight North include working remote four days a week and in the office one. Work life balance is great - I rarely put in more than 40 hours. Finally employee retention is great — most people who join the team stay for years!

Cons

I can't think of anything worth mentioning. No company is perfect, but management does a great job at listening to their employees.
