Pros
*Strava is home to so many special people dedicated to supporting a global community of athletes. Most take that mission to heart. You see the passion come through daily. *Work can also be fun. *WLB is strong here! There is a saying internally that "there is always time for a bike ride" and you can see that practiced and preached.
Cons
Similar to another review shared here, it pains me to write this because Strava has so much potential. But the company is plagued by a lack of direction, favoritism/bullying, incompetent leadership, and pervasive churn (firing, hiring, regular exits). *Lack of Direction: the focus changes every couple of months, rather than staying the course on critical business metrics and marching towards (and alongside) a vision. Decisions are made regarding the strategy in tight-knit circles, and rarely communicated effectively to rank and file. Change management is non-existent, leading to feelings of consistent thrash. *Incompetent leadership: While the new CEO has brought in more experienced leadership talent, some of those hires are purely rooted in nepotism and a handful of incredibly difficult legacy leaders remain. In the marketing organization, there are leaders who openly gaslight rank and file employees, and treat those who ask too many questions or share dissenting opinions poorly. The desire for these leaders to keep up appearances leads to shrouding under toxic positivity and what seems to be a tight-knit team ("one team one dream"). *Favoritism/bullying: There is an in group and an out group at Strava. If you don't fit yourself into the in group, there are consequences. At best, this leads to opportunities for growth not being equitably applied. There are many amazing people that have struggled to grasp at advancement, despite talent and impact. At worst, you might experience bullying for not assimilating. *Pervasive churn: All of the above, as you may expected, has resulted in a number of exits from tenured employees. In addition, Strava fires many leaders and rank and file employees regularly.
