Pros

..... Some of the people that work there do truly care. They have recent renovations and a decent cafeteria. That's about the only positives I can think of.

Cons

Management is unaware of what is really happening. Patient care and privacy is compromised daily. Employees are treated as numbers and not individuals. They have a high, medium and low rating system, but being rated high means nothing. There is no compensation or promotion for being a high performer. No incentives.

Decent benefits and market rate pay

Cons

Blaming culture, management is rude to employees and write people up for any reason possible. Rampant favoritism. Poor communication. Nurses and Physicians are rude to staff members. Nurses are over paid and underworked (lazy). Nurses spend a lot of time complaining even to patients. Summa lay-offs a lot, at least twice a year.

I would like to say Summa is like any other big hospital system, but they're not. I've worked for major systems in Virginia and in each of the hospitals that they took over. They were great places before Summa came in. Employees feel management is out to get them and they're not wrong.
