Pros

Management is genuinely interested in investing in their staff and keeping talent long-term, even as the company grows rapidly. There are plenty of opportunities for junior and mid-level staff to demonstrate leadership capacity and grow their careers, though there's a commensurate amount of work associated with this. Summit doesn't suffer from the career stagnation that often characterizes larger consulting/research firms. Management also makes quality of life a priority and promotes work/life balance, including work-from-home options, flexible hours, and plenty of social activities after hours (if you enjoy hanging out with coworkers and bosses).

Cons

Fast growth means that existing staff are stretched thin to cover new work. Management has proactively been hiring in order to get out ahead of this problem, but growing pains and a need for training are typical for any company growing as fast as Summit. Also, there are some aspects of Summit that still feel like outgrown vestiges of a small business - for example, no intranet can mean hunting for information through email inboxes. Be aware that, in order to qualify for the end-of-year bonus you'll be expected to complete a certain target of billable hours before December 31. This isn't necessarily a con, but it's important to know about it up front so you're not surprised once you're in the door.

We appreciate your thoughtful feedback. Although some activities are non-billable, we appreciate the commitment the staff has taken to work outside their target hours to bring valuable training and opportunities to other staff. We will also continue to work hard to ensure cross-functional opportunities are available to staff and to support each Summiteer’s career growth.

Pros

- Interesting work all in all - Encourages professional development (in house and external through an annual stipend) - Pay is reasonable given the expected billable hour target (1900 per year for staff) - Fairly flexible work schedule (depending on managers approval though) - Co-works are nice and easy to work with - Flat management structure that encourages staff to take on more responsibility - Albert is great to work with and is a very encouraging CEO who seems to like to mentor junior staff

Cons

- Company sponsored social events are all after hours which is not always conducive for working parents to participate in (that said the company employee base is slanted towards single, recent grads...) - Some policies (health care premium structure for one) seems slanted toward being more generous to employees w/o families. - Staff is mainly recent grads, which is fine, though if you are mid-career you may find yourself 'aged out' of most of the after hours social activities.

Thank you for your thoughtful input. We recognize the importance of firm-wide social events to foster collaboration, and it's certainly challenging to plan those during work hours in a client-facing environment. We try to schedule philanthropy activities during the day as an alternative. Please let our Operations Manager or HR Generalist know if you have alternate ideas; we are open to suggestions!

Thank you very much for your thoughtful feedback. We are looking to expand our team-building events, from expanding into new intramural teams to more frequent game nights. We are open to any and all suggestions in that department.
