Pros

The mission is respectful and the product is far superior to anything on the market. The support staff oversees is amazing team of hard working, customer focused employees.

Cons

If you were teaching a class on what not to do when trying to build a world class company, this would be a great example. SunPower should stop talking about Work/Life Balance as its non-existent unless you take Life out of the equation. The bonus structure (key initiatives) in place encourages employees to get a task done by a deadline. Programs will launch that are half-baked because someone wants to hit a bonus, not because it is ready. There was a shift to 'Putting the Customer First', which was inspiring until it quickly came to fruition that it was really 'Putting the Customer First, when convenient'.

Pros

Making the world better through increases in renewable energy. Very passionate colleagues who care deeply about the mission. Compensation is quite good, especially for renewable energy, though it’s lost value in time due to poor stock price and a step away from RSU allocation.

Cons

North America senior leaders foster, encourage and reward an exclusive all-white environment (largely male) made up of the same individuals that are consistently promoted and spotlighted. They cultivate a high school ‘clique’ environment, and at one point had a senior leader who openly bragged about “hiring people like him” (white, male, and a yes-man who wouldn’t question his demands). The company does an awful job performance managing people, and instead conducts regular layoffs. There are few career advancement opportunities, little-to-no coaching or training, extremely high demands of employees even in entry-level jobs, and management can’t seem to understand why morale is low. There used to be flexibility offered with working from home, but it seems most managers no longer trust their employees enough to work remotely, though senior leaders are often gone without notice and awarded all the flexibility they desire.

Pros

Outstanding PPO health insurance plan. Good pay, quarterly and annual bonus. Very relaxed office culture in all facilities (TX and CA). Some great leaders in other departments.

Cons

Unclear and lack of direction for what their focus, goals, values, and vision is moving forward. Everyone and I mean everyone is overworked, departments understaffed, and only the favorites will get promoted. No work-life balance. Weekend and after hours calls the norm here. Recent major layoff in EMEA. Product is way too expensivie.
