Mixed messaging on transparency and trust in leadership

Pros

Strong messaging around transparency and transformation. Potential for improvement if aligned with action.

Cons

Transparency and transformation messaging doesn’t match reality. Leadership doesn’t come across as trustworthy—it often feels performative. Inconsistencies in how people are treated; favoritism appears to play a role. Promotions for some while others face long-term salary freezes. “Positions” were said to be eliminated, yet similar roles are quickly recreated. Those who speak up often end up leaving. Feedback is said to be valued, but in practice honest input doesn't feel welcomed. Since the layoffs in 2025, the environment has felt volatile and uncertain. Ongoing internal issues make buying companies a problem.

Thank you for your tenure and for your perspective and feedback. Transitioning from a homegrown company to a scalable, competitive employer is no small challenge, especially for a company of our size. One leader can’t do it alone, but does need to inspire leaders across the company to believe in the opportunity in front of us. Your insights are valuable and hopefully shared with your leader and/or the CEO directly.

Pros

The people you work side by side with each day

Cons

There is so much uncertainty in the company and it's future, there is no trust in the senior leadership team.

We 100% agree - recognition and appreciation are critical components of leadership during transformations change like we’re going through. We’ve got to evolve to compete, and the ability of leaders to inspire is critical. Leaders at Sunstate aren’t about title - it’s about those with grit, curiosity and the determination to win. Hopefully, we can earn that trust an ease your uncertainty over time.
