Pros

I would not recommend working for Sylvan.

Cons

I am furious about how I was treated. The pay was low, there was no time to review material, and I was not allowed to solve my own problems. Management did not have everything set up and ready to go as promised and I did not have time to set the group up myself. The classroom had up 20 students and two instuctors teaching at the same time. My supervisor told me to do things in a way that was different from what the training said I should be doing. It was impossible for me to hear or be heard. I was replaced after 3 or 4 weeks.

Pros

The facilities are clean and air conditioned in the summer and heated on the winter. They have updated their technology.

Cons

Not enough money for teachers and not enough hours. It's impossible to make decent money there. They are also maniacal about class time.

Helping students. IF they respect your time - then a flexible schedule (BIG IF)

Cons

They are very inconsistent in terms of hours or giving you a regular schedule. Management often gives little notice to shift changes causing problems if you have a second job (which most instructors do since Sylvan pays so little). Low pay (as mentioned above) Poor curriculum
