Pros

TCG goes the extra mile to make sure employees are happy. They're always thinking of new "perks" to keep us engaged. They also hire employees that agree with our core values/culture which makes it easy to collaborate between departments.

Cons

There is still too much oversight on IT department spending and decision-making. Sometimes decisions are made based on a price tag or "because I said so". This makes me think twice about making recommendations.

It’s great that you’re seeing the culture thrive around you! As a company who provides IT experts through government contracts, we have made some strategic choices. The first is to focus on investing in our employees. As such, we would rather spend money on our employees (and their salaries and benefits) than expensive hardware or software licenses. Another strategic choice we’ve made is to, adopt an “open source software first” policy, which has allowed us to redirect money to employee benefits and save money for our government customers. In addition, TCG has directly contributed to OSS projects (such as Drupal and FusionForge). As we continue to grow, TCG can improve delegation and decision-making. (“Because I said so” is never a good justification. As management we should always explain our positions so that we can collaborate and learn.) We are looking into adopting Technology Business Management metrics to identify how our internal IT investments impact the company, allowing us to define and justify budget allocations and cost delegation. But, in the end, our emphasis (and thus our spending) will continue to be on our employees and their contributions to the customer.

Pros

Very focused on employee happiness. TCG takes great care to hire intelligent, honest, friendly people and treats them well. Employees telecommute wherever the job allows it. Management is open and accessible.

Cons

TCG is a government contractor. There are some cons associated with that.

Pros

TCG is such a wonderful place to work. The organization truly cares about the staff and takes the time to invest in their future. I truly enjoy the culture and the respect that management has for the staff. The work is challenging, and good performance is always rewarded. TCG assists in ensuring that everyone is operating at their full capacity and sustains that by commending staff that participate and take advantage of annual training and continuing education opportunities. As a result, this guarantees achievement of future career goals with promising and long-term success. As staff feel a sense of empowerment and ownership for their work, this helps to decrease turnover and provide for better job performance across the organization, and I am happy to say that collectively I’m been with TCG team for 10 years. TCG: My Second Home.

Cons

Nothing to share at this time.
