Pros

Some managing staff will be there for you when needed, Accountability falls on the team. You WILL gain a wealth of experience in navigating difficult situations with minimal guidance, and after the fact you will receive feedback from higher management that seems to change fluently as they also learn how to manage multimillion dollar projects. THS is transparent about the numbers involved in their LIHTC projects, though the budget is more of a tool to be manipulated as opposed to an actual guideline for expenses and cost management.

Cons

No one is directly accountable, they will burn the staff down if a job fails or doesn't run smoothly. Micromanagement and death by meeting are common phrases here. To be clear, your contract will say Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm with SOME weekends or longer hours. Expect to work every Saturday. You will also be working with several "lowest bidder" subcontractors, so be prepared to work in several difficult to navigate situations. It is not uncommon for your supervisory staff to give half advice, and not clearly outline your measurables and deliverables. It is one thing to fail, it is another entirely to not have the tools to succeed. THS has a habit of letting staff go as opposed to working towards internal growth. This is a bit frustrating when the wages paid are worthy of entry level staff, where you would expect direct supervision and direction. Pride seems to be a major concern for staff here, and the phrase "I was wrong." Will not be used. Your solutions to problems will not be valued. I would not recommend sacrificing anything for this company, as when the ball drops, you will be the first to feel the effects. They will use the "family" mantra to pull you into doing more than your contract states, and use the "team player" criticism any time they feel you could be doing more (for free.) Set boundaries early on with this company, as it is clear the project at hand will take precedence over your wants/needs on site. To sum this up, beginner level pay for 10 years experience level of expectations. "Building the airplane while it is flying."

Pros

You know the check won’t bounce and the people at the home office care.

Cons

They say they are for family but will basically ask you to kill yourself. “Leadership” is lacking in accountability and good ideas. They will shut down anyone who doesn’t agree.
