Pros

You get bumped up to $10/hr after being with the company for 6 months You get a raise (20 cents in my experience) once a year You get paid time and a half on some holidays The store closes on Thanksgiving and Easter

Cons

Terrible communication between management Full time at the company is 31 hours so you can't work more than that even if you take shifts people don't want The only way to go full time is to get a coordinator position Whether or not you get a fair amount of hours depends entirely on if the manager likes you Customers can be really cruel, and management won't stick up for you Management only cares about how the store is running/looks when the district manager comes to visit

Pros

You make some good friends amongst the diverse staff.

Cons

Managers consistently harass associates to get customers to open credit cards. It's legit the only thing these managers care about. There are problems with horrible working toilets that they'll let go unfixed for months upon months but they never fail to harass every few minutes about opening credit cards. The store's air conditioning is horrible causing an insanely hot & uncomfortable temperature to work in and they refuse to do anything about it. I guarantee if the AC had anything to do with credit cards, the managers would make it their first priority to fix. Moving up in the company is very difficult if you're not besties with the managers.

A Jumbled Mess

Pros

-The managers on staff do care about the maintenance of the store, and will try to direct you to where you need to be and what tasks you need to accomplish in what amount of time. - Some of the employees are sympathetic and will try to help you, but not all of them. This will vary depending on whose working with you on what day. -There is free food sometimes in the break room. Again, this depends day to day.

Cons

-The instructional videos you have to sit through at the interview stage don't really tell you anything about what you have to do day in and day out at the store. -The standards of cleanliness for the store can vary widely from day to day. -The management do not concern themselves with your availability and will schedule you for shifts you may not be able to cover. -The amount of hours you may receive may vary widely from pay period to pay period. I understand that as a part time worker not to expect absolutely great hours week after week, but I have heard the same complaints of full time employees who have spent years with the company go through the same thing. -There is little to no training or attempts to educate you on how the store functions or how to do your job. Expect to dive in face first into your tasks.
