Pros

Shiny equipment. Otherwise there really are no pros. When they make you go to Des Moines driver has to pay his own hotel bill.

Cons

TMC has a penalty for everything. Will run a driver into the ground and the home every weekend is a lie. Not unusual to spend half the day waiting to get loaded or unloaded. If management spent as much time creating a positive work environment as they do busting your chops over getting the truck washed every week, they wouldn't have such a high turn over rate. Pay is horrid, TMC will start you out at .028 per mile. That will work out to approximately $5 per hour. Better to go work for Maverick in their glass division. Stating pay is .041 per mile. Superior work environment.

TMC owns their own hospitality center for drivers - Baymont Inn and Suites - which is also open to the public. Drivers' rooms are reserved for them by TMC and they do not pay for their rooms. Drivers are home most weekends. The starting pay for drivers who choose Mileage Pay, rather than Percentage Pay, is $0.40 - $0.46. The vast majority of drivers choose Percentage Pay, which is a pay structure based on performance, designed by the drivers themselves. For more information, visit www.tmctrans.com.

Pros

Good Fleet Managers. Great pay for no experience and starting in OTR. Choice of Percentage or CPM Orientation and Training is 7 weeks, but it is the best in the industry. Home every weekend if desired. 2 Retirement Plans, 401k, and ESOP

Cons

Expect to work at least 14 hours a day. Detention Pay, don't expect to see anything till after a year of employment. Salary, maximizes after about 7-8 months. Only way to make more money is to stay out most weekends, or become a trainer (currently expect only 1-2 trainees a year at 5 weeks at a time). Also getting a position with Specialized or the Boat Division.

Pros

Home every night and good benefits.

Cons

Work late, Saturdays without compensation. Penalized if a driver is terminated, no matter the reason. Big company so "business" decisions are made and people lose jobs. Bonuses are nice... if you can reach tough goals.
