Hello and thank you for providing your honest feedback for us as well as the Glassdoor community. You raise a valid point — obviously relative to the job you were hired for specifically, but also given the of the IT industry, knowledge is constantly evolving and new skills are always being developing and nurtured — so yes, there can be things to always learn. Throughout the entire hiring and interview process, every candidate is fully informed and aware of the requirements of the position they're interviewing for, naturally. And that would include any possibility for on-call requirements. We take great pride in the people we hire, as we say constantly, we value top technical expertise and we only hire the best and brightest, putting our clients first and hiring the best people to ensure things get done right. You also touched on a point that we're proud to offer all of our employees — we strongly encourage a healthy work/life balance, as cliche as that may seem now, it can often be a rarity in the workforce. We aim to be as flexible as possible, even adopting an open vacation policy years ago — we encourage our people to take the time they need, whenever they need it. We wish you luck in the future, and thank you for being part of our legacy.

Pros

Excellent onboarding process. Respect work/life balance

Cons

Terrible meal allowance when traveling $45/day is almost impossible to stay under. And mileage reimbursement is only .56/mi when almost all companies follow federal rate at I believe .65/mile

Thank you for taking the time to provide us and the Glassdoor community your brief feedback on your time with TSP so far. You highlight straight away one major aspect that we strive to maintain for every employee — we strongly encourage a healthy work/life balance, it's one of the reasons we've instituted an open vacation policy — we want every employee to be able to have the flexibility and time they need for their mental health and personal lives. You also bring up a valid point. As our policy states, the meal allowance is only a guideline — this is not a per diem amount. If you're visiting a major metropolitan area and need to exceed this guideline, all we ask is that you receive approval from your manager before your trip — we know that the cost of travel and food is different and fluctuates based on your geographic location. Regarding mileage, the IRS states that you can deduct the difference between the IRS standard rate deduction per mile and the TSP standard reimbursement per mile on your annual tax forms. To receive the mileage deduction, both of these must apply: You must itemize your deductions. Your miscellaneous expenses must be more than 2% of your adjusted gross income. We hope this helps clarify some things for you — we appreciate the hard work you provide in the field. And again, we always encourage our employees to have direct conversations with their managers.
