Pros

I have seen so much improvement in several areas over the last few years. Here are some pros: -In general, flexible schedule -Growing company -Leaders who care -A company that has learned the importance of diversifying financially, and is taking important steps to do that.

Cons

-Low/Average Pay. They always have an excuse on this, but the fact is way too many people fall through the crack, and get the run-around on this topic. -Incredibly poor management structure. They are patting themselves on the back for the reorg at the top, but we still have managers with 20-35 people direct reporting to them. It's been this way for years, and see no change in sight. -Incredibly poor communication

First, we want to thank you for your more than 5 years of service with TSP. We appreciate the vote of confidence you have shown in sticking with TSP. In our short history we have grown tremendously and we’re so happy you have seen improvements as we have evolved as a company. Obviously, we don’t have everything figured out and can always improve so we appreciate your thoughtful feedback and recommendations. It’s not an excuse, but a fact that we benchmark and market our compensation structures annually so we can be more aware and knowledgeable when negotiating bill rates with our clients. Even with this information, there are still some roles for certain clients that are on the lower end or sometimes below the market salary band. For these roles we basically maintain two salary bands, 1) for market data and information, and 2) for allowable bill and margin rates by the client. Sometimes the two don’t align. Additionally, we’ve put into place a system to notify our management team of an employee who has not had a pay increase in the previous year. As a direct result, we had an increased number of employee change forms being submitted and approved last year with just under $1M in merit increases awarded. We’re absolutely aware that having a high number of direct reports is challenging for any manager – the reorganization was the first step to help rectify that. You are also correct in that we stopped performing annual reviews years ago – the main goal in a successful performance management system is feedback. We have put an increased emphasis on our managers building real-time relationships with their employees; however, based on your feedback, it seems apparent that there is room for improvement. To help with accountability, a new performance management module has just been released to our management team upon the recent launch of our new HR system in January. This system informs managers when they have an employee with a service anniversary and allows a review and feedback to be tracked between the employee and the manager. While we won’t go backwards and implement annual reviews again, this new system is more employee-focused and structured. Every day of every year, we encourage open communication, continual feedback, formal and informal coaching, and adherence to one of our corporate values of “real conversations are welcomed.” If you haven’t done so, we’d encourage you to have a conversation with your manager to help set expectations moving forward regarding a more consistent dialogue regarding your performance and/or salary. Lastly, you’re correct – having a significant number of a company’s employees working outside of the corporate office (spread across 42 states and Canada) does present a challenge to make each and every one of those people feel “included”. There simply is no easy answer, but it’s an issue nonetheless and one we do not take lightly. We perform quarterly all hands calls, from the corporate level we communicate everything to our employees via email/CSC (company intranet), and we regularly solicit social media content from all employees. We value our employees' candid feedback – that includes ideas on employee inclusion. We absolutely appreciate your candid feedback and insight. You can quickly network with other people and clientele within the contract they have you on.

Cons

About 25% below market pay. Management does not have a clue on what is going on within the contract and may have unrealistic expectations or ideas.

Hello and thank you for your feedback about your time while at TSP. Thank you also for your more than 3 years of service while at TSP. We really appreciate your candid review (pros and cons) about working at TSP. We have heard and do know that pay is an issue. Unfortunately, many of our pay rates are dictated by client bill rates. If we continue to increase an employee's pay year-after-year without increases from the customers to our bill rates, we eventually risk going into the red. Profit margin doesn't even come into the equation - we're talking about a for-profit company essentially functioning as a non-profit where we aren't making any margin. We put into place a notification system to make our management team aware of an employee who hadn't had an increase in the past year. This resulted in the largest number of employee change forms being submitted and approved last year with just under $1M in merit increases being awarded to our deserving employees. We know this isn't enough and will continue to work with our customers. I couldn't agree with you more regarding people leaving managers not companies. This is partly the reason that this year alone, we parted ways with 6 of our managers. As we've grown, we learned (sometimes the hard way) that often the best technician doesn't make the best manager. Thank you again for taking the time to write a candid review about your time at TSP. Thank you for providing some feedback regarding your experiences while at TSP. I definitely agree with you and thank you for your comments regarding showing promise for future growth. However, I guess I'm a little confused as to why a pro for our company would be future growth, but you rated us as a negative outlook? We have grown fairly rapidly over the past few years and that doesn't come without growing pains for sure. We have implemented several new processes and tools over the past two years that have primed TSP for new growth and scalability. I hate that you feel we discard employees without trying to place them in any other position. While it's true that we are not set-up as a staffing firm with a bench of resources waiting to be engaged, I can assure you that when we have a great resource, we do everything in our power to find another opportunity. As a member of the talent management team, I've personally been involved in setting policy around timing and how we go about finding new opportunities for employees on contracts that for whatever reason are not being renewed. That's certainly not to say it happens every time and we can retain everyone, but there are many steps we go through before simply releasing a good resource. I see you stated you worked for the company for more than 3 years so I wanted to close up thanking you for all your efforts on behalf of TSP and our clients. I certainly wish you the best and thank you again for utilizing this tool to provide your thoughts and feedback.
