Talented People, Competitive Pay but Not a Good Place to Work
Pros
- Pay is competitive; good benefits - Company is active in the community - A number of smart people who are good to work with, and are committed to the company's success - Industry is more interesting than one might think - some challenging business issues to work through, in a newly-competitive industry
Cons
Workload - it is said that work/life balance is important, but it's not. Expectations are unrealistic, and with poorly defined accountability, it's hard to determine who is in charge/who is responsible for various initiatives. And because turnover is significant, there's a constant re-learning process that has to occur that isn't productive. Smart people, but an ego-driven culture where there's a lot of confrontation in an attempt to either take credit where it's not warranted, or deflect blame when something goes awry No career development to speak of - the worst I've seen in a company, and I've worked at several. The performance evaluation process isn't well-defined, and who gets promoted is often laughable. Senior management team overall is not competent... indecision often causes whipsawing of employees to run around needlessly. It's a constant occurrence there. I have seen too many instances where talented people leave of their own accord due to frustration with the leadership and decisions that are made, the crazy hours and expectations, and the lack of career mobility within the company. It's been a source of frustration to see that occur, and wonder if anyone notices, or cares. It's not an accident that there are frequently job openings available.
