Pros

Flexibility. Working environment/office settings. Most of colleague are genuinely nice and helpful. Leadership team, some directors and some heads of are best to avoid. Benefits are great but only compensate for lower market salaries.

Cons

Since the sale to Nestle Purina, the new leadership has been quite inefficient. The Company has now no vision and lost its values. Some key managers tend not to respect processes and not to communicate key decisions taken creating innefiencies and higher operational costs. Claims to be people focused but these are only words: 25% of work force (55 people) are being made redundant, downfall of poor leadership decisions.

Pros

Tails has lovely people to work with. Some great individual engineers that are very talented and great at sharing their knowledge and experience. Additionally, it is easy to get your own initiatives going, engineers are very open to ideas if they can be reasoned.

Cons

Unfortunately for tails, the talent just about stops once you leave the engineers department. C Level leadership is extremely poor and top heavy. At times there have been “managers” not managing anyone, in an attempt just to promote. As a result it’s left tails with huge debt technically that it’s having to pay back now. Leaderships absolute refusal to invest properly in engineers has resulted in a department that is going to be left middling due to low salaries (Tails.com sit about 25% behind the rest of the market), resulting in an inability to hire good senior talent. Tails.com could be an amazing technology pet company. They brand themselves as such. But it’s requires proper investment, that at the moment, isn’t there.

Pros

- Most of the employees at tails.com are lovely to work with. It really depends on your department. - The management can be great to talk to and can be very down to earth. But this depends on your department. - When things go wrong, you're usually not alone. Some of your colleagues will normally help out. - Most employees have a very positive attitude to ideas. - Good mix of women and men in managerial positions.

Cons

- Meeting heavy. - tails.com is a face-paced company to work for. 121 meetings happen weekly but no actions seem to come out of them. They're more like therapy sessions without actionable outcomes. - Targets are high, even during COVID. It often felt that the targets were more important than the people. I don't think they're very people focused anymore. - They've outgrown their office space but they still want you in the office. - Depending on who you work with, you might experience some micro-management. - Sometimes people think they know your job better than you do. So will ignore your expertise.

Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. This feedback is super useful! You have some excellent ideas on how your 1:1’s could’ve been better. We want all of our team to get the most out of that one on one time and how this is done may vary for each individual. I’d encourage any team member to talk to their manager directly about how their 1:1’s are run and what they expect to get out of those meetings. Hybrid working is still quite new for us and we will be listening to everyone's feedback on how we can make this work, not only for tails.com but for people as individuals too. Many thanks, Henrik Head of People
