Pros

The pay was almost enough to pay my bills and they had open bars at events.

Cons

Not a single effective leader works at this company. It’s extremely obvious that the CEO and COO are not interested in creating a company that is sustainable in any way. I think they are hoping they will just be able to sell it. There are no clear goals other than to increase the company’s valuation. Roles, metrics, routines are not even half thought out. It’s impossible to be truly successful at Tapcheck as there is nothing tangible for any employee to actually work towards. It’s a ton of stressful, vague, busy work that’s just a thinly veiled way for coked out executives to let their aggression out and stroke their egos. One of the saddest ironies I have ever seen in real life; a company that says it’s financial product helps improve employees morale and lives is obscenely financially mismanaged and has the worst employee morale I’ve ever seen.

Pros

Great for employees who need a lot of hands on management and want constant interruptions and new tasks from the CEO.

Cons

All of the attention from the CEO will feel great until you realize that leadership only wants transactional activity (grit) - not longer term relationships. Sales incentives/bonuses are a constantly changing target set up so the house always wins.

Pros

Decent base salary, but comes with drawbacks.

Cons

Working here has been really stressful. There aren’t clear rules or processes, so things feel very messy especially when someone is on vacation. It’s hard to feel like the leaders care about us, and that’s pretty discouraging. A lot of the 5-star reviews seem to come from managers, which makes it feel like they’re just trying to make the company look better than it is. They did hire a new VP of People, so maybe they’re trying to fix some of the problems, but right now it’s not good. Engineers here have to do way more than just engineering. We’re expected to act like product managers too, writing super detailed project plans without any guidance. On top of that, product managers often ask for impossible timelines, and we’re pressured to reduce it even further. Managers don’t really help clear up confusion. They just pass it down to engineers, who have to figure it out. If you like the entrepreneurial ownership of products, maybe you’d like it here. But honestly, if you want that much responsibility, you could probably just start your own business instead. I really hope things improve.
