Pros

+ Great people to work with. + Great place to work if you are unemployed or young (i.e. cheap) and need some experience in a data and process driven environment. + Everyone gets a chance to be a Jr. Data Analyst. + Good training ground to work for a competitor + Good place to work if you have or want experience in a low end distribution centered business.

Cons

- Culture is now a Danaher "OpCo" culture - just like Fluke; understaffed and overstretched - Internally focused on bowler metrics and countermeasures to address GAPs to stretch plans - Stock awards only to Director level and above = no retention plans for below Director level - Growth is only through acquisition (not organic product development) - Low tolerance for investment-intensive lumpy businesses - Key management jobs sourced externally - other OpCos or competitors - Frequent medical plan supplier changes that affect your network providers - 120 day payment terms make it very difficult to work with external suppliers. Some local vendors won't work with Tektronix. - Annual layoffs in Oct-Nov right before the holidays. Beware if you have more than 15 years with the company.

Pros

Was a nice campus (recently sold much of it). Access to on campus gym and sports teams. Nice incentive programs for going above and beyond the call of duty. Good management (in my experience) and good people. Room for growth.

Cons

Annual layoffs to meet the numbers was stressful. When you see people laid off that dedicated their lives to their work because we didn't meet the financial goal that year, it makes you realize you are only a body with a price on your head and makes you want to put in just enough time to get the job done. Some departments that had overlap were siloed and some employees were not willing to lend a hand. Part sales prices and service repair prices don't always make sense. Again, two siloed departments that should compare notes.

Pros

Local support, flexible scheduling, lots of opportunities to learn new disciplines

Cons

Expect one tech to do work of three, do not purchase new equipment or replace broken equipment making the job challenging, they expect automation to increase output but most of the automation not fully vetted before put into production, no teamwork between labs, work employees into the ground expecting OT, in order to save a buck by not hiring more help, inconsistent policies, higher management had no technical experience and are only data driven, tout continuous improvement and yet do not listen to suggestions by employees, micromanaging even at the regional level
