Pros

Most co-workers are very nice, knowledgeable, and work hard. Schedule is somewhat flexible even for manufacturing personnel. Additional training and education is available if you're willing to take the initiative, it's not typically offered, one has to inquire. Vacation time is accrued quickly, 4 weeks at 5 years.

Cons

Re-orgs seem to be the norm. Usually resulting in layoffs or firings. Compensation is not competitive compared to similar companies. Compensation within the company is not very fair, same positions/responsibilities can have significant differences between salaries. Tenure and experience seem to be liabilities, often the ones with the most are the first to go. Poor communication between facilities, management and employees, and between departments. Lack of leadership. Plants bicker about trivial costs instead of looking at the whole picture of the company. Upper management claims to want to attract and retain top talent, but does almost the exact opposite in practice.

Pros

A top 5 manufacturer in most product categories, although distant and trailing position behind market leaders Stable product platforms, basics for the markets served Most employees "the doer's" are pleasant and hard working Latest CEO has a strong track record and respect of the industry If you can outwit and outlast wave after wave of the zombie horde, by default you might be successful

Cons

Very limited opporunity for career advancement, often described internally as a place where poor managers go to ride out their deficient careers - abundant glass ceilings Commodities business with a "buy" mentality, limited innovation or investment in human capital, goods or services Significant gaps between "Have's" and "Have Nots" Handful of good Director's and VP's; however, lackluster/immature/insecure leadership is pervasive Dismal facilities in RTP, only trumped by insufficient merit increases and non-existent bonus payout structure Revolving CEO door; high degree of employee turnover

Pros

Able to work from home at least once a week. Peers are usually nice. Paid training (at least for our group).

Cons

Advancement Opportunities are usually taken by permanent contractors. Pay is about 20% less than what it should be for equal positions elsewhere. Company going on second year without Merit increases but we are hiring lots of contractors and our profits look good to investors! Benefits (medical/dental/Vision) are below average. You'll need Co Insurance. PTO is 2 weeks for beginners, which includes Sick days. that's right, no separate Sick time off. Management (all levels especially IT Senior) are not effective in promoting or building employees to succeed or advance. The "It's all about people." philosophy is heard but not seen. Management style is tyrannical, "My Way or the Highway" style and intimidation.
