Pros

The company is mission driven, and is making a positive impact in the Cancer Realm. The location is great, and the CEO is very passionate about his work.

Cons

Tempus has young, unexperienced professionals, in management positions. There is no accountability, as there is no organizational chart to keep people in check. Managers have the ability to do whatever they want, which means you get stuck with work that may not even be in the realm of what you were hired on to do. Expect to work late nights and weekends. The company itself is a mess, and HIPAA violations are occurring left and right. I think you can make the best out of any situation in most cases, however working here was awful. Happiness vs. suffering.... Don't let the mission and the free snacks full you, this is a horrible place to work.

Pros

On-site Library, decent pay, and unlimited snacks and coffee.

Cons

-Schedule is posted last minute, giving you no time to plan your week. -Other lab members are only concerned for their work, even though we work together on teams. People never clean up, the lab is disgusting with trash on the floor and chemical waste just sitting on the counter-tops. -Severe lack of communication. Sometimes things change location in the lab with no notice, or new reagents are introduced but the staff that use them have no knowledge that we ever switched. -"Unlimited PTO" is not entirely true. They track days off, and they restrict your PTO on what they consider busy days. For example, if Mondays are the busiest in your workflow, you can only take a few Mondays off in a year. -Expected to work 8-10 hours every day, and sometimes work days are so busy that you don't have time for lunch. And they have taken away our food stipend. -Project improvements from the techs are mostly ignored, and if management does decide to change something, it takes months for the simplest things to be changed. -I was hired for a morning shift (6am/7am), but that doesn't matter to management. I work many mid-shifts (10am) in a week now....and they expect you to be completely flexible with your schedule even with less than 12 hours of notice for schedule changes.

Pros

Barista, casual dress code, good coworkers

Cons

Tempus continues to want more and more out of its employees, while ignoring safety concerns and stripping benefits. They love to talk about how great the lab is when giving tours, but they turn a blind eye to numerous safety violations (that have been brought to mgmt attention many times) and don’t seem to care about us at all. There is a very large divide between the “bio” side and the “tech” side of this biotech company, and the ones at the top seem to want to expand that divide. PTO changes went into effect in the middle of the year with 3 weeks notice, but only for hourly employees. Guess who is hourly? Lab employees, NOT office employees. We were condescended to and ignored when asking questions about this change. Nobody knows what other teams actually do unless individuals go to other individuals to learn - no info is offered otherwise. This is my first job in a lab setting and I was so excited to learn everything that I could, but the company seems to actively discourage that. Unless they decide to expand your responsibilities without a reflection in pay. Experiences seem to be very team/supervisor dependent - some teams are trusted to do their jobs by their superiors and others are insanely micromanaged.
