Pros

-Free snacks/beverages -Cool indoor/outdoor workspace -Academically intelligent co-workers -Company is expanding fast

Cons

-No 401k match -Unlimited PTO does not apply to any lab staff. You get the standard 15 days like any other company. -Provided hazard pay only 2 months out the last 9 months. -Non-competitive pay. -No professional development plan for entry levels. -No 1 year anniversary review. Raises are meager. -Dehumanizing environment for a myriad of reasons. Micromanaging, passive aggressive, inexperienced management. -No transparency to teams on stats, number of pt's helped. We have no idea if what we're doing is actually helping people. -Squeezed 40+ people into a tiny lab space, less than 1 foot away from each other throughout most of the pandemic without hazard pay despite protest to reduce staff and increase social distancing. -Being hired on for one job, then having you train on and work several other roles without extra pay. -Worst company culture I've ever experienced, and I've worked some lower level jobs in my day. Zero team building exercises. Zero cohesiveness across departments. The CEO has said some outlandish things, is far removed from the reality most people live in, and lacks compassion (which is upsetting since he's. The amount of people who quit on the spot after a speech he had telling us to "not get distracted and if we do, we can leave"regarding the civil rights riots outside the companies front door ( we passed by military personnel and tanks to get to work) was eye opening. I'll never forget that. -If taking a job at this company is your only option, I understand. But if you have other options, put this place at the bottom of your list.

Pros

- Always working with smart people. - You're solving cancer - that's awesome! - Nearly everyone I came across was very nice. - Work life balance is decent (basically 9-5), apart from the on-call hours for engineers. - snacks in the kitchen. cool office.

Cons

- The pay is systematically below market with raises tightly restricted to once a year. If you get an offer well below market, be willing to work for that amount for awhile - a big raise probably isn't coming anytime soon. - Everything is urgent all the time. Part of this is just the nature of providing cancer testing: time is critical for the patients waiting on results. But what this means as an employee is that you will be expected to do critical work with too little time. It's stressful. Also, as an engineer, it may mean that putting out fires through glorified tech support has to take precedent over writing code. And, like many places, unpaid overtime through "on-call hours" is common.

Pros

Most folks are curious and smart, you get to learn a lot.

Cons

1. The work culture is really bad (by design). Leadership doesn't really care about fostering team spirit and growth, but it encourages extreme selfishness and asslicking if you want to move up the corporate ladder or get a raise. 2. Certain team leads and VPs are notorious for throwing others under the bus to reach the top. And middle management follows suit, The favoritism is blatant, they don't even try to mask it. 2. Tempus is also quite racist - majority of their leadership is white, across teams spanning Legal, HR, Modeling lab, Comp bio, Data and sales. All the folks part of the "Presidents club" are white, mostly white men. It feels like a white boy frat club. And there are plenty of microaggressions against Asian/brown/black employees. Some managers deliberately don't provide clear instructions in writing to avoid accountability when things go south. Feedback given to female minorities is generally worse, with the expectation that they will remain quiet and keep their head down. Incredibly demotivating management, akin to toxic PIs in academia. Everything is urgent and last minute, that's really not sustainable and leads to a lot of burnout. 3. There is no real strategy for the company's growth, and there has been a lot of turnover at all levels specially in the past 2 years. Constant reorgs and team changes based on management whims. The RWD space is quite crowded and tempus is no longer the unicorns they claim to be, they really need to stop drinking their kool-aid.
