My welcoming was a stack of papers to sign in the back room. As I entered the back room to sit down and fill out my paperwork, I noticed another new hire at a computer blasting Sports Center on his phone. I was turned of by how unprofessional that moment was. I mean, you're a new hire at a job, and have Sports Center in the background while you are supposed to watch training videos? What's the difference between that and watching Netflix? He never turned it down or even acknowledged me sitting next to him either. Very disrespectful and weird right off the bat. After reviewing the papers I noticed about 75% could not be filled out. I let my supervisor know about this and he gave me a huge book to start reading. Once again I was forced to listen to Sports Center while trying to read an learn. It was near impossible. Later, I was instructed to log into the computer in the back and take tests. My login was not working so I was instructed to call the helpdesk. Then my account wasn't activated so my supervisor instructed me to call HR. After about an hour of walking back-and-forth to my manager and contacting both HR and help desk I was finally able to log into my computer system to take tests. Once I logged in, I had no idea how to navigate the system so I did another walk to my supervisors office. He instructed me how to navigate the system and what tests I should be doing. It was a very weird experience. It's like no one knew what was going on. That day I finished a couple e-learning tests. The next day I walked into the training room and once again was greeted with Sports Center blasting. Thinking ahead, I brought headphones from home so I could hear the mans voice on the e-learning this time. It still was extremely distracting, so I kindly asked the kid if he had earphones. He rudely said "you do". I told him it was hard to hear my training videos with Sports Center and it was only coming in one ear. He looked at me like I was a complete jerk and turned his phone off. So weird and unprofessional. Later that day I asked a sales rep what a typical day looks like. He was telling me an average day was 7:30am to about 8:30-9:00pm Monday - Saturday with only Sunday's off. I was shocked to here how demanding the job was. He didn't seem very happy either.
I really had high hopes for this job. I spoke so highly with friends and family. I was excited to start. I was very turned off by the welcoming I had. There was no tour of the facility, no introductions, I was not even shown were the bathroom was. Instead I was pushed aside into a dirty room with unclear expectations. It was the most unorganized orientation I've ever had.
