      Pros

      If you haven't fulfilled your quota of drama come work here. There are no drug tests after the initial pre employment screen. As a matter of fact there is a on site drug dealer which is very convenient.

      Cons

      Management uses a false safety initiative to make lower tier employees lives miserable, the rules while stated are meant for all are NOT! They will work you to death when they need you, and when they don't, they will do everything to give you the cold shoulder. The management in this company has gone downhill. They are opposed to paying out decent raises, nor working with sr level employees to make life in the company any better.

      Pros

      Good benefits, including profit sharing; fairly willing to accommodate change to avoid stagnation, including inter-department transfers; focus on quality of testing and accuracy.

      Cons

      Most of the downsides I experienced were office-specific. Poor local management used an enhanced safety initiative to seek out infractions to be able to report "improved" safety metrics. A lot of posturing, a lot of office politics.

      Long hours and poor pay

      Pros

      Terracon is okay if you are fresh out of college and are looking to gain some experience and licenses.

      Cons

      Be prepared for long hours, extended out of town travel, a lot of millage on your vehicle, very little overtime pay. High turnover of staff. The average wage is much lower than what is usually expected in the Chicago area. Equipment and safety supplies are dated and in poor condition.
