Pros

Fun place to work before the rose colored glasses get knocked off. Most members are kind, coworkers are nice, a handful of managers have their heads on right and of course a nice gym to workout at.

Cons

Many issues with working here, most lying within upper management, specifically the general managers. I don't know which was worse the micromanagement, the nepotism, or the guilt tripping under the guise that we are all a "family". They are not fond of requests for proper compensation/raises/promotions no matter how long you've worked there, or how well you do your job. They'd much rather just replace you with someone else and pay them more. Or offer those with less experience and hours a promotion. There is poor work life separation. If you want to come in on your day off to workout for an hour and there's an open shift, you bet you're going to be questioned about why you didn't pick up the shift, "even for an hour".

Unlearning the Bay Club Way

Pros

At first you will love it. Its high energy and you will get promoted fast if you're hard working.

Cons

It's an unhealthy company that will burn you out and make you feel guilty for setting boundaries. Since working at a new company, I've since seen what it is like to work for a healthy company and I've had to unlearn so many of the toxic mindsets that I picked up at Bay Club. Most of the good reviews on here are by leadership and don't reflect the reality of what it is like to work in any of the entry level positions. When interviewing ask how many people have quit in the past year...

Pros

The people I worked along side with were great. Very supportive group of people including the managers at our club.

Cons

Upper management (up the corporate ladder) were horrible. During the pandemic, the company did pay us (on reduced pay) during the lockdown. I was making $17.50/hour (previously $20/hour). When the club opened back up, they kept our reduced rates rates the same instead of returning us back to our original rates. It wasn't just towards the lower level positions, but also the managers at the club we were working at. We were not only short-staffed because of the pandemic & people leaving, but we also were expected to run at maximum capacity. All of my coworkers were getting burnt-out. On top of that, I worked there for 4 years and didn't receive a single raise. When I told them i would leave, they said they would give me a promotion $5 raise. But I would only make that raised rate only when I punched in under management. Bay Club is a corporation that doesn't care about their workers. They've had multiple lawsuits filed against them in the past and high turnover rates because they consider their workers easily replaceable.
