Pros

• Variety of opportunities- not set in a single industry or type of project but instead given opportunities that come up which was a major pro of mine in order to broaden my personal CV. Additionally the opportunity to work with clients and team members in London is very exciting for me. • Working expectations- consultants do not have sales target so they are truly able to do the best and right thing for the client; recommend additional time to finish something or pull on additional support • Amazing culture- from the weeks of induction to time in the office and company events everyone is very welcoming. There is a true and sincere level of care that people have for each other. • Performance review- a structured ladder approach is used to measure your current performance and highlight key areas of focus specific to your development. Conversations take place with your Personal Development (PD) Partner and Listening (project) Partner to have a complete picture. • Internal knowledge- across the Partners and Consultants I’m continually impressed with the skill sets/knowledge/critical thinking of everyone I’m around. The Partners especially have an amazing level of experience and talent. • Internal initiatives- there are a wide range of internal opportunities to get involved in around developing methodology, supporting BD and marketing, social impact initiatives, etc. Berkeley provides so many different avenues to be involved with the company on more than just your current assignment.

Cons

• Single person / small team assignments so you can go a bit without seeing each other (this is balanced by a community / culture that is always available for questions and a focus on having everyone come to the office on Fridays, attend Monthlies, etc.) • Limited mentoring internally – given the small team sizes and everyone running their own work there is little opportunity to really develop individuals internally (this is balanced given the majority of roles put you in a position to work with the clients and build strong relationships where you can invest in them as much as you want to not only reach the objectives but help them individually)

Pros

A Partner and Consultant group full of thoughtful, intelligent, and inclusive people sets the tone for the overall culture which permeates throughout all aspects of company. Berkeley has a mantra of doing the right thing. This is applicable to the clients as well as its people. What that looks like, given my short experience at the firm: - Partners being fully transparent about the impact of Covid on our business and the possible actions we might have to pursue in potential scenarios; - Having honest conversations with the client about what we think they actually need vs. what was initially on the SOW; and - Setting aside time to engage in thoughtful and open conversation about racial justice, what we can do as individuals and as a firm, and how we can act authentically vs. virtue signaling While I have yet to fully experience the social aspect of the firm thanks to the pandemic, it's clear that people really enjoy the company of their colleague and respect each others' boundaries

Cons

The most apparent improvement opportunity is diversity at the leadership level. As promotions are made internally, there is an obvious lead time before changes can occur. It's understandable, but no less frustrating. However, it's good to know the firm has continuously made improvements in diversifying its Consultant group (aka partnership pipeline) and is working on strengthening our efforts following the diversity conversations. Additionally, even with a short stint at Berkeley, it's clear leadership encourages, respects, and really listens to different perspectives

Best place to work!

Pros

A truly honest, open consulting company with integrity and a complete lack of hierarchy. Such a refreshing place to work in a typically competitive and hierarchical industry!

Cons

Assignments can be quite intense as we work in senior roles next to client leadership, this means the hours can periodically be quite long!
