Pros

For experienced management consultants who have the versatility to play a number of different roles across a wide range of industry sectors, the variety of work done by the Berkeley Partnership is hard to beat. Often working on some of a client's biggest, most critical challenges, the exposure is fantastic right from setting strategies to delivering programmes. The real strength of Berkeley which makes it such a great place to work is the sense of belonging to a community. With around 90 people all-in, it's big enough to meet new people yet small enough to build familiarity and friendships. The number of social events planned throughout the year is incredible and the investment in people is very impressive. It's a really caring company with a great sense of fun and our values are very sympathetic to people who are at the stage in their lives of starting or growing their families. Great office space, too.

Cons

The Berkeley Partnership isn't going to be the right place for someone who values specialising in a particular industry sector, functional area or a specific consulting role. It's possibly not going to be right for someone who is just at the cusp of making Partner / Senior Exec / VP / MD as the road from new recruit to Partner is not usually shorter than 5 years.

Pros

- Huge investment in its people - Incredibly non-bureaucratic - Focussed on building long, lasting relationships with clients - Ability for consultants to work across a large number of industries doing very varied roles

Cons

- Flat structure, so as a consultant, no longer directly managing people within the office - Few very core clients, rather than a huge range of clients

Pros

- Super bright people - Very social, generous culture - away weekends are legendary! - Everyone encouraged to play a part and contribute - Interesting client base - Can have a life, mainly business travel - Mature, grown up environment - 6 weeks holiday!

Cons

- Relatively flat structure (which is a good and a bad thing, depending on your POV) - Partnership run by all the partners so danger of groupthink - Up or out - tricky to manage very experienced people who do not make partnership, but common in most partnerships
