CCS - A true American sweatshop

Pros

Learn about arbitration, third-party administration of insurance disputes/liability issues in the insurance industry.

Cons

I've worked a myriad of jobs throughout my career, this stood alone in terms of horrible management, deplorable work environment, and an overall sense of hopelessness among the work-force. CCS is an American sweatshop. The company maximizes profits while engaging in unsavory business practices that lack ethics and moral fiber. The bulk of its employees at this location are call-center employees making near minimum-wage, yet the company still charges employees $75 cents for a keurig cup of coffee. No fresh water supply available - half of the employees are sick which makes one question the quality of air/environment within the building. What is clear is that the higher-ups and management of the company simply do not care. They care only about the bottom-line and lining the pockets of the executive management while the rest of the company is grossly mismanaged, underpaid, and exploited as much as possible. I would imagine working at a fast-food restaurant would be a healthier environment for the majority of the CCS workforce (and likely would pay better salaries, incidentally).

Only in a bad economy.

Pros

Great during a bad economy. Most employees are friendly. They have multiple locations. The company has many useless certifications, but they are good at maintaining them.

Cons

Rarely promote from within. Yearly pay increases are minimal. No loyalty to employees. Most middle management is petty. You can get better insurance from the Mass Health Connector. Don't work here unless you are desperate.

Pros

overtime potential allowed to work on own

Cons

favoritism and inconsistency in application of policies with employees within the same department . This happens frequently with"occurences" which are given to employees coming in a few minutes late to work or back from lunch. One employee will be given an occurence while another will not be for the same reason, depending if you are a personal friend or a "facebook friend" of a supervisor. Those that always chat it up or brown-nose a supervisor will be treated a lot better and have infractions and breaking of policies overlooked, and will even be talked to by the supervisor in a much kinder tone of voice. This is obvious to everyone. Also certain employees are allowed to text or to to notify their supervisor by facebook that they will be late-to avoid getting an occurence-others are not allowed to do this. so many "excuses" are made by a supervisor that apparently the policy or rule only applies to those the supervisor does not like.
