What to say... what to say... I feel like I've been in a nightmare since I began at The Center. There are few processes in places and the ones that are there are constantly ignored. Everyone has a different method of doing things because any and all exceptions are allowed. This leads to confusion, slow turnarounds, undo pressure on staff and general inefficiency. People are allowed to treat others as if they are incompetent, while not being able to do their own jobs well. I have seen people talked AT quite harshly and stripped of their dignity for no reason. If you are in a lower level position expect to be ignored by management outside of your program, as well as micromanaged within it. You will be thrown into the lake of fire with no life preserver. Coworkers are personable, yet many are difficult to work with because of unprofessional practices. There are many "blame games" that occur and even more bottlenecks of work that are never addressed. Other departments will change vital elements of your projects and not even alert you. People will even lie about situations that are easily traceable to cover their own tracks. Nothing changes and I'm pretty sure there are no operational differences since the Center was founded and today. You are expected to play office politics and are penalized if you are independent-minded. Expect requests to have everyone cc'd on every email you ever send and take care to handle fragile egos with white gloves or be reprimanded. Your chances of advancing are also very, very slim because those who should be fired aren't and positions that are needed aren't created. Overall this has been this worst job environment of my more than decade long career. I rate it a 2/10 and do not recommend it unless you don't value your sanity. The 2 is because the Carters are themselves fantastic and awe-inspiring and the programs somehow accomplish good work in spite of the constant chaos.
