Pros

Helping children so they can become good productive adults and making a difference in their live to succeed and to be happy and healthy in the future.

Cons

Some staff at key I had worked with were abusive to the child clients I felt them to be inappropriate. The managers hides abusive behavior all around. I worked their for 5 years and felt the only reason I stayed was obligation not to abandon those poor kids. When I brought it up to the management a staff had punched a child and damage the child leg after he fell and twisted it I was outraged and reported it to management again but they decided to go against me due to the abuser used the race card plus the abuser was my supervisor who on my first day let me know how she felt about white people and it wasn't loving... what a great start to my employment. I'm not saying the kids are angels I know their a challenge but their are correct ethical humane ways to go about it, and that's were Key Program really lacks because the management thinks their better and wont oversea there organization, and has no human contact with staff or clients. its to beneath them. But they do have trainings classes on CIP and none violent restraining and CPR in a day but that's about it your off to go... The sad part they let me go on Christmas and said my two year contract was up but I was their over five years. crazy thing a few years later they asked me if I would like to come back lol a definite no go. still to this day I feel haunted and bad about the kids I left alone their. This all happened back in 2010 and according to the posts I see on here the bad management continues.

Pros

Great co-workers and real sense of direct team. Good atmosphere and laid back.

Cons

Horrible management. Thing could be be done differently and efficiently. No support from higher ups.

Pros

Umm...I'd say the one real pro was the opportunity to meet a lot of equally dissatisfied co-workers that have become life-long friends

Cons

Real reverse sexism via power trips, Toxic management culture, no privacy. I mean, we are talking real lawsuit material here thanks to the sub-cultures that have popped up in the Southeast, Rhode Island and Northern (Methuen/Lawrence) Areas. I cannot speak for the other regions for better or for worse. I am now a freelance journalist, thanks in part to working for companies like this throughout my 20s. Here's one piece of anecdote: within a month of working in the RI region, I was quite aware of managements' meetings designed to point out all of the negatives of other staff and their employees. Is this method of discourse, oh I'm sorry "Team-Building", supposed to help by seeing whether the discriminated staff is able to cope with said ostracism and transcend from the ashes? :)

Pros

Kids are easy to love, close location, we can do a lot of things, technically speaking.

Cons

Management isn't very receptive to your concerns regarding redirection. I need real-time redirection in order to understand what needs to happen and that doesn't occur. It's extremely frustrating to be pulled into meetings that only give you negatives and are vague with what you can actually improve. For a "strengths-based approach," it doesn't make you feel like you have none.

Pros

Supportive and understanding leadership, although management varies significantly from regional office to office. Offers supervision and will help you in working towards LICSW. Good place to start your career, but always be thinking of the next step because you can't really make a long term career here, unless you are fine with making minimal money.

Cons

The training is subpar. They are heavily focused on maintaining their financial security, which only relies on billable income from DCF, DYS, insurance companies, etc. I would not recommend a long term career here.
