The schedule- work weekends and are constantly staying late and coming in early (not getting compensated).
the compensation- as someone who came to NECC with an education background undergrad I got paid the same as someone with a high school diploma would get paid which is not fair at all. For the area it is also not enough to live off of.
When I did receive my masters my pay did not go up and there was now spot for me to move up, therefore seeking the outside positions was the only option and they make it incredibly hard to leave, not that I expect to be rewarded for leaving but people have to move on it you cannot provide, because believe me living off the salary you get paid is not easy.
Senior staff are extremely underappreciated when more often than not they are doing the jobs of a ton of people
Higher ups do not listen to the opinions or observation of staff even though they are the ones that are spending the most time with the students.
NECC is very clique- I can see how it would be hard to be a new higher
They paint this pretty picture of what you think its going to look like and then when you get placed, specifically on residential the picture is completely different
you are putting your own well being and health (both physically and mentally) on the line everyday.
It is often hard to separate work and home- you never have time to finish what you need to do on shift therefore more often than not you are bringing it home.
the resources that they have for staff are not easily accessible and many of the things take place while you are on shift and cannot get off therefore more often than not you spend your off day on the weekend at NECC too.
They say they are going to do all of these things and they don't, I mean COVID probably had an impact on that but staff put there health on the line everyday while higherups got to work from home yet they are the ones that reap the benefits for teacher appreciation and activities such as that.
