Pros

The Leadership Team, Practice Lead and Principal Consultant I worked with at the Onset are all supportive and warm people. My recruitment career levels up because I got the best mentors.

Cons

I can't share anything when I moved to Onset, they even exceeded my expectations

Pros

The office is quite quirky and fun to work in, the team is generally very friendly. They can be quite generous when it comes to looking after their people - team lunches, drinks, food in the office, etc.

Cons

Micromanagement, no proper training, managers make you feel bad about asking questions. They say they are welcoming of people with no past experience, but will have unreasonable expectations of you. Were aggressive when I resigned. Their commission system sees that you won't get paid if you resigned before the quarterly payment period. You also HAVE to work in the office 3x week.

Pros

All of my colleagues at The Onset are just incredible recruiters. Everyone is from such different recruitment backgrounds which brings such a breadth of strengths and experiences. I have only been at The Onset for four months and I have already learnt so much. Sean, Aaron, and the Practice Lead's are incredibly well connected and have great reputations in the Sydney tech industry which makes building relationships with clients and candidates so much easier. The Onset also have fantastic values. They are not a transactional recruitment company and they care about long-term relationships more than anything. They are also striving to become carbon neutral and invest in training around topics such as gender equality and unconscious bias.

Cons

I came to Australia on my own and it was a weird time with COVID so it wasn't the most sociable office when I first started. I know they are working hard to address this though and are looking to do monthly socials again which will be great.
