An Actual Joke...

Pros

Free lunches, great co-workers, set schedule, deal with luxury items

Cons

They will promise you up and down future opportunities, but it's completely misleading and it's the company's way of sucking you into a black hole. All they care about it quotas, not developing or learning anything substantial. So. Many. People. are overlooked and undervalued. Managers are petty, gossipy, and borderline useless. If you want to go back to high school and work a dead end job I strongly encourage you apply/work here.

Pros

Occasional Free Food, You get to work with cool and often rare pieces of clothing, You get to meet a few people who share the same values as you about clothes

Cons

10 hour work days, Oversaturation of people doing the same job, Managers have little to no education or knowledge of menswear, management gets paid ~2.5 times what you make, unless you've been working this 17/hr job for over a year and a half there is no room for upward movement, little to no room for overtime unless you sign up early and are willing to come in on one of your days off... I started working for this company because I believed in their values, their values internally are crap. Copywriters have no opportunity to make overtime, the benefits are pretty decent if you're fine with 20% of your paycheck being siphoned away. Management does not care about anyone in this position, your voice is worthless, trust me, I tried. They will constantly change what they want out of you under the guise of the company "still being a startup" despite once making all of the copywriters take an hour out of their day to see the UMs celebrating in Las Vegas about making over ~500 million in gross revenue half-way through 2018. People constantly brag about swiping items, whether it is from the physical store or the warehouse. I would see coworkers intentionally damage merchandise if they didn't want to write copy for it, brought this to management and they did nothing. They had a 2 minute speech on it during the morning meeting, but it was never fully addressed. I could go on for so many more paragraphs, but basically DONT WORK HERE AS A COPYWRITER.

The Upside Down

Pros

+My coworkers are pretty much the only thing that keeps me going. Oh, and free bagels on Saturday’s. +Health benefits. Beats Obamacare (still love you though, Obama)

Cons

Are you ready...? +Managers micromanage and try to find more ways of doing so. And it’s so unnecessary. +HR isn’t good for anything. You come to them with an issue and leave with a “good luck” pat on the back. So surprised this company hasn’t had a lawsuit filed against them yet. +Overworked and underpaid. They expect us to photograph hundreds of products a day as if we’re robots. +As a “job well done” gift, they give you candy. What, are we five years old? We are grown. For a company that makes “$2M/day”, I want more than on-sale candy. +Lack of communication between managers and departments. +If you voice your concern to managers and challenge them in any way, they mark you as an enemy. Any suggestions for how to make production flow better is automatically dismissed (they tell you that they’ve tried every alternative and say it doesn’t work but won’t explain why it doesn’t work). +The Photo studio is filled with (you guessed it) photographers. Talented and creative individuals. Yet they seek external candidates to assist and/or produce the creative shoots. +No real room for advancement.
