Pros

I love the overall concept of TRR: sustainable fashion and the re-sale market. I truly believe in the Circular Economy!

Cons

Expectations are extremely disconnected with reality. Monthly goals/ quotas are astronomical- even for a seasoned sales professional like myself. You are expected to have your calendar open from 8am-9pm, weekends included. I love working hard- and am very good at it. But Management has become detached from reality and turned into something rather mechanical. Currently TRR is hiring around the country- and in turn, Quotas are even higher and more unattainable than ever. The end result to hiring more is an extremely low base salary, and very few individuals will make monthly bonuses. And during this "period of growth" at TRR, I've been vocal to Upper Management about personal growth Opportunities, that instantly fell on deaf ears. I feel like a machine. Bots can ultimately do this job, sadly. I miss the personal, luxury level attention I used to be able to give my Consignors at TRR. Now- it’s just about generating units. It’s a Real, Real shame. I hope things turn around, as there are many talented ALM’s and LM’s on staff.

Pros

The only good thing to come of this job was meeting some very great people. My fellow photographers and I grew close because day in and day out we had to survive the most toxic and abusive workplace of all time.

Cons

Where to even begin? First of all, the business model of TRR is impossible to scale. The fact that they were able to swindle anyone into investing into this horrible idea is mindblowing. The lack of scalability, coupled with a completely baffled and lost management team, is the sole reason this place is a hell hole. Allow me to explain. Every single item that is for sale on the TRR website must be INDIVIDUALLY received, priced, have copy written, then photographed from multiple angles, then those photos must be retouched and edited. Every single one of these steps must be undertaken for EACH ITEM. This means that when the time comes to ramp things up, and all of a sudden each day sees an intake of 100,000 or more items.... well, that means the peons (meaning everyone) must work around the clock, no days off, to meet the demands of a suspiciously blissed-out executive team. Also, I should note, full disclosure, when I was a photographer there I was making $27/hr, which is pretty great, and that's why I stayed 3 years. Well, everyone that was hired after me made only $15/hr, which the executives should feel ASHAMED of. This job is not worth that. I wouldn't even return for my original pay. Ever. This place is a shining example of the 1% taking full advantage of those less fortunate than themselves.

Pros

I am reading all of the reviews on here and its honest people who left The RealReal because it's a bad place to work and when they leave their valued opinion on here HR hops on and gives a positive review that's super defensive.... it's pretty obvious that the positive reviews on here are not authentic.

Cons

The turnover here is insane. Horrible work environment, no room for growth. Managers don't want you to grow and will take all of your credit instead of helping you progress. Only negative attitudes from management and executives and everyone works in fear. Micromanagement when it's not needed and it's not a team environment. Everyone sits quietly and seems so unhappy. It's extremely clicky and if you don't have your little 'circle' you won't have any relationship with your coworkers. I have never felt so undervalued or alone at a company before, it actually just makes me sad that I spent my time and energy there. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
