Pros

Great company events and overall culture. Open discussion is encouraged. You are given free reign to work freely as long as you hit your deliverables in a timely fashion.

Cons

Processes are frequently violated, causing the production value to suffer considerably during development. This leaves very little time to thoroughly test the product before it is released. The company used to focus on even the smallest bugs in order to keep the customer experience top notch but small bugs now die on the vine if there aren't enough complaints.

Pros

eccentric company with actually a pretty kick-ass product Decent social events put on by HR. (company picnics, etc) VERY laid back work environment. Most people are heading for the door by 4pm. ok compensation for the work you do

Cons

Tivo is on the verge of extinction and was under (lack of) leadership from a dinosaur known as Tom Rogers. For a company with less than 1000 employees, the amount of bureaucracy and process to get anything done is quite amazing. Furthermore, these "processes" are constantly being redesigned, with little to no alignment across different groups within the company. Company doesnt seem to follow any standard processes used at other companies (eg. using Agile for SDLC). Instead, TiVo's development lifecycle is the most convoluted thing you will ever see There was a lack of clear strategy and leadership from senior management. Lots of politics amongst middle managers. recently laid off 50 employees
