Pros
Lead engineers in development teams are very competent. Principal engineers are accessible and are great resources for junior engineers.
Cons
There is a lot of attrition. The support teams are understaffed and poorly trained. Management doesn't appreciate the need to service technical debt. The quality and roles of manager vary significantly within the organization. There is often a desire by managers to delegate responsibility (i.e. give dotted line authority) to technical leads.
