Pros

You can learn a lot about different development stacks

Cons

you are expected to be a full stack engineer which resulted in inexperienced people writing code for different platforms making the code base extremely bad all over.

Pros

Great co-workers. Parental leave is very generous

Cons

The company only cares about the stock price and has fallen into yearly layoffs (spun as "streamlining") right before the earnings call. Benefits are cut, reviews are harder and promotions are out of reach.

Pros

Remote work available, and direct managers are very flexible about times/days in office. Everyone I worked with are lovely people, both professionally and personally. Good central location. Some opportunities to learn new tech like automation (there is a con about this)

Cons

There is no test environment. There is a pre production environment that is basically a dumping ground for each team. So it can be hard to actually test anything. And there is a massive risk with this approach due to releases so it’s not guaranteed what you tested is actually what goes out live. There has been a culture of blame from senior management if something goes wrong. I have heard of colleagues almost being fired due to bugs in production. In learning automation, you have to use their framework, which is grand, but the two main people who look after that repo have just been layoffs so there is no support available. The work itself isn’t that interesting, nothing really unique about it. With the latest round of layoffs, the management haven’t been 100% transparent. All last year there was questions at every big town hall meeting asking if there would be any layoffs, and each time we were told no. And when they announced the layoffs, they said this decision was debated for a long while since last year. So it doesn’t appear the management team was telling the whole truth. There doesn’t appear to be any career paths to move to other areas, not in the Dublin office anyway.
