Pros

Work from home 3 days a week

Cons

- Too many changes. I’ve had 5 managers in recent years. Each who want claims handled differently. So as a result, I haven’t received a raise in 4 years. - Micromanagement. Since working from home began, our files and call logs have been harshly scrutinized. We work just as hard but are given twice as many claims. 175 claims per adjuster is ridiculous. And don’t dare ask to work above 40 hours a week to keep up. You will be harshly scrutinized and they will run it up the management flagpole. Then you won’t get a raise because you can’t keep up. - Everything is a secret. We ask questions and get no answers. Yet are sent into a meeting to give a presentation about how everything is changing.

Pros

Lots of time off, but you will need it to remain sane.

Cons

Toxic dynamic, at least in certain business units.

Pros

Great insurance! No seriously, the health and dental insurance are great here. Lots of options and always top quality. Training here is great. The UPDP program in particular is excellent. Always very underwriting-focused. The office environment itself is very pleasant. The building is very nicely maintained and always looks professional. There is always consistent building upkeep and maintenance going on (not a bad thing!) Free and easy parking is great. Travelers provides a lot of time off work, which is great (however leadership has recently put forth new sales call requirements which somewhat negate this benefit, as you now have to make up sales visits you "missed" during your paid time off)

Cons

Even when things are going well, leadership will find something to be unhappy with. My leader was new. Her leader was new. That leader's leader was new. In fact, all the way up to CEO, the leadership at Travelers is pretty much all new. I wish that was a "pro," but is isn't. At all levels, leadership is probably best described as overwhelmed, scared, and dangerous. Bonuses and raises -- even for top performers -- isn't great. Top performing non-leadership can anticipate an annual bonus of ~10-20% of base pay. There are no quarterly bonuses. How they determine raises and bonuses is completely arbitrary and all bonuses are given in total secrecy. There is no transparency or a printed bonus plan. I won't go out on a Limb, but there is one particular director who is a "Con" on oh-so-many levels...
