Pro's are being able to work with the troubled youth of our community and try to talk to them and show there are other ways to deal with life.

Cons

I don't even know where to start, this can be a pro/con depending on how you look at it. No matter how hard you try not do your job, there is almost no reason why you will get fired. It sucks for people that are actually trying to make a difference because you work with people who shouldn't be there.

Travis County does not represent Austin or the surrounding bustle of the Tech community. Travis County is a dinosaur. Those who work for the county advance through the ranks based on time, not merit. Many managers are lacking in basic skill sets, the Teams meetings are quite entertaining. They will remain at the county until they retire since they are unqualified to work elsewhere. Travis County offers excellent health benefits if you desire a simple career with no training or challenges. Go somewhere else if you have any abilities or want to stay competitive.

Cons

You seriously do not have to work to meet the bar set. Lack of diversity. Arrogance of managers without intellectual cause. Old school mentality.
