Pros

Working on landmark projects, being part of a team. Most managers will let you take time off from your 6 days a week, 12 hour days for emergencies.

Cons

I am surprised that the San Jose office is still open. They have totally lost their way. Major layoffs over the past few years have decimated the skill level of employees. They have stopped caring about building good buildings, and only focus on gouging the owner on change orders. Training became a joke. Upper management can't even call lower level emplyoees by name. Turner has gotten a very bad rep among owners in the local market - they have not finished a project on time in years.

Pros

Some call it sink or swim philosophy but at the end of the day, Turner is very good at providing a solid foundation for training it's younger employees. Also, the more responsibilities you ask for, the more you will get. Also, most of upper management have an open door policy, which is unlikely in big companies.

Cons

The hours are long and people burn out way too easily. In addition, people who are not promoted within the company never fully integrate themselves into the Turner way. Unfortunately, people who then work for such people, never fully learn the Turner system. It's a domino effect in a way.
